MACOYA, TRINIDAD (AP) —Emilio air max Shoes Renteria scored twice in the second half to lead Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew over Joe Public 4-1 Thursday night in the final first-round match of the CONCACAF Champions League. Columbus, which had already had clinched a quarterfinal berth from Group B, went ahead in the 20th minute when Peruvian forward Andres Mendoza headed in a Jason Garey cross. Trent Noel’s penalty kick tied the score in the 27th but Renteria entered at the start of the second half and converted a penalty kick in the 50th. The Venezuelan forward got his second goal in the 80th minute, sending the ball over goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel into the roof of the net. Duncan Oughton of New Zealand scored the final goal in stoppage time. Columbus rested many regulars ahead of its MLS regular-season finale at home Sunday against Philadelphia. Columbus (4-2) finished the group stage with 12 points, one behind Santos Laguna (4-1-1). Joe Public (0-5-1) was last with one point. Real Salt Lake also advanced from MLS to UGG Classic Tall Patent Paisley Boots the quarterfinals, which start in February, along with Mexico’s Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Santos Laguna and Toluca; Costa Rica’s Saprissa; and Honduras’ Olimpia. The draw is Nov. 1.
